AI Policy

This policy explains how AI tools are and aren't used at A Handcrafted Business. It applies to work with Make More Club members, course customers, consultancy clients, and the wider audience who follow our content.

What we don't use AI for

We do not use AI tools to write copy, create content, or build courses.
All articles, social posts, emails, masterclasses, course materials, and member/customer resources published under A Handcrafted Business (and on Socials as Real Shop Talk) are original and written by Nicola Smith.

What we do use AI for

AI is increasingly part of everyday life. At A Handcrafted Business it is used deliberately, carefully and selectively due to the environmental impact and IP issues and concerns.

Specifically Claude (Anthropic's AI) and Chat GPT may be used for research, proofreading, assisting with administrative or operational tasks and for testing purposes to stay current with AI, and how AI is changing ecommerce.

AI is impacting product discovery, search, and buyer behaviour therefore AI is discussed and recommended (taught or implemented) to product sellers and ecommerce brands. Personal opinion about the use of AI are respected and understood.

Why this matters to you

If you're a member, customer, or client -  the work you receive is Nicola's original work, unless otherwise agreed and stated upfront.

All perspectives, opinions and frameworks are created by Nicola.

What this policy doesn't cover

This policy covers AI use within A Handcrafted Business and Real Shop Talk. It does not cover:

Tools and platforms recommended or taught about (these have their own AI policies)
Third party use by collaborators, or suppliers
AI features built into software we use (e.g. spell-check, search, analytics)
